Who Are We?
The Basilisks have been established in the district since 2001, being the longest running Explorer Unit in Waltham Forest district. Unlike younger sections, Explorers is driven by the members. You choose your programme, the leaders are here to make it possible and encourage you.
When & Where do we meet?
We meet weekly on a Thursday evening. When we meet indoors, we meet at Wingrove Hall (Beech Hall Road, Walthamstow, London, E4 9NT)
Indoor meetings: 19:30 - 21:00
Outdoor meetings: 19:30 - 21:30

What does the uniform look like?
We have two types of uniforms. One formal for important presentations and any time the explorers are somewhere to represent the unit, and one informal a more relaxed casual attire for events and regular meetings.
Indoor meetings
The indoor uniform is the regular Explorer shirt along with our section necker. Our section scarf is made up of two key colours, turquoise blue and white.
Outdoor meetings
The outdoor uniform is suitable outdoor clothing and the group necker. This allows the explorers to feel comfortable during outdoor meetings and events while still being recognisable as Basilisks ESU.
Membership
Basilisk Explorers welcomes new male and female members from any ethnic, social or religious background.
By becoming a member of Basilisk Explorers, you have access to the whole of the Explorer programme which involves coming to the regular meetings every week.
Subs
If you are a member of Basilisk Explorers, and attend regular meetings, there is a subscription charge of £55 per term, payable via bank transfer. If you want to discuss hardship, please let a leader know.
Communication
Whatsapp
A closed WhatsApp group is available containing Parents and Leaders. There's also a closed WhatsApp group used to communicate with the Explorers
Email
Emails will be used to send out event information and invitations. It is important that we have an up to date email address listed. Your Explorer can add their own email too.
OSM
All personal details for Explorers are contained within the Online Scout Manager system, which is also used to generate emails, manage events and handle payments for subs, camps and activities.
